Does it slip?
Cotton without a rubber backing can move on tile. That is the honest cost of leaving the PVC layer out. A thin non-slip underlay solves it and can be replaced independently when it wears out.
How does it dry?
By evaporation, which needs air. Hang it over the tub edge or a rail rather than leaving it flat on the floor and it stays fresh; leave it flat and any mat of any material goes musty.
Is it worth the price over a supermarket mat?
On shedding, yes — that is the specific thing this site cares about, and a cheap mat is usually polyester. On longevity, cotton mats hold up well if washed warm rather than hot and dried on low.
