Avoid cotton-polyester blends sold as "cotton rich" — a 60/40 blend sheds plastic fiber just as a full polyester one does, only more slowly. Also avoid bamboo viscose marketed as natural: the fiber is plant-derived but heavily chemically processed, and it is not the same claim as certified organic cotton.

Sateen or percale?

Sateen is smoother and slightly warmer with a soft drape; percale is crisper and cooler with a matte finish. Neither involves added chemistry — it is purely how the yarns cross. Hot sleepers usually prefer percale; people who like a silky hand prefer sateen.

How is this cheaper than other GOTS sheets?

Mostly cotton grade and brand structure rather than a weaker certification. GOTS is GOTS. What a higher price usually buys is longer-staple cotton that pills less over years, and a bigger brand’s overheads.

Do organic sheets shrink?

A little on the first wash, like all natural fiber, which is why quality sets are cut oversized. Wash cold and dry low and the shrinkage stays inside what the sizing accounts for.
