What We Do
Plasticproof helps people reduce their exposure to microplastics and the plastic-leached chemicals that come with them — at home, in food, in water, in baby gear, in everyday products. We don't sell plastic-free products ourselves. We research them, test them where we can, compare them honestly, and tell you which ones are worth your money and which ones aren't.
Why This Site Exists
Microplastic research moved faster than the headlines did. In the last few years, peer-reviewed studies have detected microplastics in human blood, breast milk, placenta, brain tissue, and arterial plaque — and linked plastic-leached chemicals (BPA, BPS, phthalates) to measurable hormone, fertility, and cardiovascular effects. Most of the plastic exposure people deal with day-to-day is avoidable. The hard part is knowing which swaps actually matter and which products are honest about what they're made of.
That's the gap we try to fill. Practical, evidence-based guidance — not panic, not green-washing.
How We Make Money
Affiliate commissions, mostly via the Amazon Associates program. When you buy a recommended product through one of our links, we earn a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. That's it — no ads, no sponsored posts, no paid placements. The full breakdown is on our affiliate disclosure page.
Editorially we are independent. We've turned down recommendations the affiliate programs would have rewarded us for, and we'll keep doing it. If a product doesn't clear our material, performance, and value bars, it doesn't make the page.
What We Cover
- Kitchen — cookware, food storage, water filtration, cutting boards, bottles.
- Baby & kids — bottles, mattresses, toys, sippy cups, wipes, formula.
- Bedroom & bath — sheets, mattresses, towels, soaps, sunscreen, deodorant.
- Health & science — what the latest research actually says about microplastics, what to ignore, and what to act on.
Editorial Standards
Every recommendation is built from primary sources where possible — peer-reviewed studies, manufacturer disclosures, third-party testing (GOTS, GOLS, OEKO-TEX, GREENGUARD Gold, NSF, etc.), and owner experience. We cite our sources. We update articles when new evidence comes in. We will tell you when something we previously recommended turns out to be wrong, and we'll fix the page.
If you find a factual error, please email it to us at support@getlucidai.com and we'll address it.
