Why it's safe for your family
- Uncoated aluminum — there is no non-stick layer, so there is no PTFE or PFOA anywhere on the pan.
- Because nothing is coated on, there is nothing to scratch, blister or flake off, which is the normal failure mode of a coated sheet pan under a metal spatula.
- With no coating there is no temperature limit set by a polymer, so it handles the high heat that roasting and browning actually need.
- Commercial-gauge aluminum resists warping in a hot oven, so the pan stays flat rather than buckling and pooling fat to one side.
Is this really PFAS-free? Yes — and here's why
A non-stick sheet pan is aluminum with a fluoropolymer film applied to it, and that film is what fails — scratched by a spatula and degraded at roasting temperatures. This pan is the aluminum without the film. There is no coating, so there is nothing to come off.
What touches your food: bare aluminum, or the parchment you line it with. No non-stick coating of any kind.

What to avoid instead
This replaces coated non-stick and dark-coated sheet pans, where a polymer film sits directly under food at roasting temperatures and is routinely cut into with a knife or spatula.
How we verify — and what we don't
Straight answer: we're a research team, not a testing lab. Here's exactly what our rating is based on — and what it isn't — so you can weigh it honestly.
What we check
- What the product is made of, from the maker's own specs and product listing.
- Whether any part that touches you or your food uses PTFE, PFAS, plastic, or a coating that can degrade.
- Peer-reviewed research on how that material behaves when heated, scratched, washed, or worn.
- Known failure modes — how the product actually breaks down in a real home.
What we don't do
- We have not chemically tested this specific unit in a lab.
- We don't take payment to rate a product higher — there is no sponsored placement.
- We don't show star ratings or "trusted by thousands" counts we can't stand behind.
Anything that adds a known microplastic, PFAS, or off-gassing source — a non-stick coating, a plastic surface against food or skin, vinyl/PVC — is downgraded or cut. We only list what clears that bar.
