Can I install this myself?
Many people do — it uses push-fit tubing rather than threaded pipe, and it comes with its own faucet. You will need to drill a hole in the sink or counter for that faucet if you do not have a spare opening, and you will need room under the sink for the tank. If either of those is a problem, budget for a plumber.
Does it waste water?
Yes. All reverse osmosis discards water to carry rejected contaminants to the drain, and tank-based systems like this are typically less efficient than newer tankless ones. If wastewater ratio matters most to you, look at a tankless system instead.
How often do the filters change?
The pre-filters and carbon stages are replaced far more often than the RO membrane itself, which lasts substantially longer. Running the system on old pre-filters shortens the membrane's life, so the cheap filters protect the expensive one — it is worth keeping to the schedule.
